(Extended) Reasons why I hate kpop so much.

It's a new blog. Probably no one has read it yet, however, if you stalked me and clicked this URL from my facebook profile, you'd might have seen this status about why I hate k-pop a whole damn lot.

Actually I hate Asian pop in general. No offence to other kinds of pop in Asia but I think k-pop and those Taiwanese pretty boys tarnished it. (Yeah I know I'm asian, but whatever.)

1. They're plastic.
I'm pretty sure most, if not all of them underwent plastic surgery. Not that I'm against that, but it's highly probable that they have copious amount of surgery done on their faces. For the females, maybe their boobs too. Or their asses. Not that it matters. But yeah, point is, I'm betting all these 'fangirls' are like supporting and going crazy and spending big money on them, because of these fake faces. If they were like, ugly, nobody'd support them.

Another voice might say, "But hey, celebs in the West also undergo plastic surgery!" Well yeah, but there is a higher chance of finding one that didn't. While for these Korean superstars, it's a slim, very slim chance to find one that didn't. Plus looking at those makeup tutorials on YouTube, they might look mighty ugly without makeup on.

Good for going incognito huh?

2. They don't play musical instruments.
That's just wrong. If you're a musical group, you can't play a musical instrument, I'd despise you. Because all you do is dance. So what if you can dance? It's called a 'boyband'. If it's a band in the musical sense, then there should be at least one person who plays something. But no. In most of these cases I see, it looks like the music is all played by people who rightly should get recognition for, but didn't. If it's just a whole group of pretty faces who can just dance, it should be renamed 'dance troupe'. Not '-band'.

And also, most groups in the West do play their own instruments. In fact, most that I see have at least one guy playing drums, electric guitars, bass guitars. Even the lead singer plays the guitar.

3. Lame, repetitive lyrics. Especially those that I can comprehend, i.e. English.
I keep hearing the same lyrics all the time. They kind of don't make much sense. And also it doesn't mean much other than the obvious meanings. It's just to probably make themselves look 'better' and also probably, to satisfy the people who don't understand Korean. So you mix a little English in it, and hey presto, you get a group of fucking crazy fangirls who pledge to die for you.

And sometimes it just seems like they want to make themselves look badass, so the band's name sounds something that plays heavy metal but doesn't. What a bummer. Not that I like heavy metal, but when I think of a band with a name like 'Beast', I think of heavy metal. And also apparently these people like to act cute. Or simply they just can't spell. Or they love the clock a lot.

4. Fangirls are NOT helping these guys.
If I'm not wrong, these pretty faces practically have no freedom. I heard that if they want to go to the toilet, they have to inform their managers. Which I find really disturbing, unless you're in the middle of an exam or you are incarcerated. Because of their pretty faces and the power to suck money, these greedy managing companies are treating them like their money trees.

To do that, they kind of imprison them, the only perk is that they have a glamorous side.

And these fangirls are the reason. They are the ones who throw these people their money.

And just one good news. They'll probably fade after like 5-10 years. This kind of music won't last. Look at those Taiwanese boybands, getting outshone by the Koreans. Ah.

Classical music is the only genre that will last. At least from what I know, they've lasted for centuries. And classical music is real music, made by people who know music. Not some pretty boy dancing.

  1. Hey hey hey~ Well just wanted to say~ Are you a plastic surgeon by any chance? ^w^ Do you happen to be the make up person who actually sees their bare face? Clearly all you've ever watched are groups who dance awesomely instead of ballad songs. Repetitive chorus? Ok first of all just three things, "We found love" "We are never ever ever getting back together~" "Baby Baby Baby~" Oh my god XD Nice to know you're cursing at them for being born without double eyelids and then getting surgery for it XD Know why? Cause most koreans are just born without double eyelids XD It's in their genetic makeup XD Do you know why they get the double eyelid surgery? Because apparently they believe they should have it in order to look pretty cause everyone else distinguished them for that fact. And to know that you said they don't know how to play instruments! XD How would you know? Cause you know what? I could name over a hundred of them who know how to play the violin, piano, guitar, drums Oh! How about FT.Island? They are an actual boyband who....Wait for it.... PLAY INSTRUMENTS XDXDXDXDXDXD Koreans learn english or engurish, so yeah they aren't too good at that. But english is one of the hardest languages to learn had it not been you're first language. Why? Because one letter can change how the whole word sounds. You should try to pronounce some of the newer names people are just naming their kids over in america XD The only thing that's true is number four XD Anyways I'm just soooo~ glad to know that there are people like you out here making the millions of people who do like and love kpop feel angry. Why not spend your time being an anti against something that is actually degrading? Like rape, abortion and drugs? But hey, it's your choice after all. The world will always retain childish immature people who hate on something others love.

    2. so to some extent, the blog posted was correct. not being a plastic surgeon doesn't make you ignorant, (just like how you don't need to know how a car engine works to be able to drive) and frankly I'm an eastern asian born with double eyelids. kpop idols undergo plastic surgery not because they choose to, but because the kpop industry orders them to. this massively impacts other girls' self-esteem, because they feel like they can't be as physically attractive as a kpop idol. however, the truth is, that with enough plastic surgery, makeup, autotune and dance lessons, anyone could become a kpop idol.
also, are you saying that in order to be pretty and distinguished you must have double eyelids?

since english is one of the hardest languages to learn and kpop is suppose d to be korean because (its kpop...duh) they shouldn't have incorporated their cutesy fractured bad english into their songs for all of the americans to hear.
guess what? chinese was my first language, and i taught myself the english alphabet at age three. so either kpop idols are mentally stunted compared to americans, or english isn't actually that difficult.

also, it appears to me that you are suggesting that someone who does not share the same taste in music as you do ALSO does not try to prevent rape/drug abuse. (abortion isn't necessarily a huge problem) just because the author doesnt like kpop doesn't mean he/she does not actively try to prevent those physically degrading activities.
before you go ham trying to chide another person's ideals which aren't necessarily ethically bad towards society (the world won't have immature childish people, the world will have REBELS), look into your own actions. i counted 13 obnoxious "ex dees" and an insane number of grammar mistakes.
just like how the general public is forced to respect kpop fans' beliefs, kpop fans should learn how to accept the beliefs of those that are brave.

  2. If there are cray cray fans buying their stuff, nothing matters more to their oppas, unni's or their companies than the money they are getting in from it.

Since you wrote an article on Kpop, I was wondering about your view on my own one about Kpop YouTube dancers and whether you can share with others. I’d like more people in the J-Pop and K-Pop community to read and comment on: http://nynyonlinex.wordpress.com/2013/01/31/whats-your-purpose-as-a-youtube-dancer/
